Ceremonial Japanese Tea Cup "Chawan" blue
Ceremonial Japanese Tea Cup "Chawan" blue
A glazed ceramic bowl with a practical shape for a comfortable grip, this blue “Chawan” ceremonial bowl is traditionally used in Japan for the “Chanoyu” tea ceremony.
The Chawan is a traditional Japanese cup designed for the Chanoyu tea ceremony and for preparing matcha. It is characterized by its wide shape, ideal for whisking tea, and its ceramic construction. Unlike a regular bowl, the Chawan is designed to retain heat and provide a comfortable grip, while also being a symbol of tradition and spirituality in Japanese culture. A traditional cup does not have these technical characteristics or this symbolic value.
But you can also use it to enjoy your matcha tea! Master it and turn it into an everyday object that will replace your usual cup with style!

Usage Advice
Usage Advice
For traditional matcha tea preparation, combine the cup with a Chasen (matcha whisk) and a Chashaku (matcha spoon).
After measuring and pouring the tea powder into the Chawan (ceremonial bowl) with the Chashaku, pour the hot water over it and then whisk the mixture with the Chasen (matcha whisk) in an “M” shape, until a foam forms on the surface.
After use, rinse gently and dry thoroughly with a clean, dry, soft cloth.
