The frankincense tree (Boswellia sacra) is a small tree of the Burseraceae family, known for its sinuous and knotty silhouette. It grows slowly in extreme environments, often on arid, stony, and steep terrain. Its compound, evergreen leaves are adapted to drought, and its small white flowers bloom in discreet but decorative clusters.

This emblematic tree originates from the Horn of Africa, Yemen, and Oman, where it survives in arid zones thanks to its deep roots and its ability to withstand long periods without rain.
