Wild Green Mate Tea (organic & fair trade)

Wild-harvested green mate tea from Paraná, Brazil.
Its flavors, with fresh herbaceous notes, are similar to those of green tea, with a vegetal and slightly astringent sensation. The characteristic bitterness of yerba mate is present from the first sips, but softens throughout the infusions.
More about wild green mate from Paraná
Yerba mate is still found in its native state in some preserved areas of the state of Paraná, in southern Brazil. It grows naturally in the shade of the forest. It is harvested only every two years, manually, between June and August, which gives it a higher content of phytonutrients than cultivated yerba mate. To ensure the preservation of the leaves, they are steamed for a few seconds, a gentler and healthier process than the old method of passing them over a flame. This preserves the yerba mate's taste characteristics, its content of active ingredients, and its green appearance. The leaves are then dried, then matured, and finally packaged and controlled to obtain a top-quality product, free of compounds harmful to health.
More about the harvest
Aromandise's partner provides technical and financial support to several producer associations in the state of Paraná, Brazil, that cultivate wild yerba mate on their properties, far from intensive agricultural areas, thus preserving the surrounding Atlantic Forest. This yerba mate is produced by one of these associations, which brings together about sixty families who defend their way of life and the preservation of the local ecosystem in the face of the advance of agribusiness.
This activity is essential for these small producers who live in harmony with the forest and harvest chimarrão (a traditional South American infused drink) from wild trees cultivated on their properties.
Fair for Life Certification
"Fair for Life is a certification program for fair trade in the areas of agriculture, production, and commerce. It was created in 2006 by the Swiss Bio-Foundation in cooperation with the IMO Group and, in 2014, was acquired by the Ecocert Group to meet demand. Beyond the inherent concept of fair pricing, and since its inception, Fair for Life has been aware of the notion of 'responsible supply chains': having a long-term vision, committing sincerely, and acting responsibly throughout the entire supply chain."
The seal encourages an economic model for the supply chain that aims for the resilience of each link. Fair for Life certification is a tool that allows for the recognition and protection of exemplary supply chains, in which actors have chosen to act responsibly, implementing good economic, social, and environmental practices. Following the framework defined by the Fair for Life seal, producers, processors, and brand holders can guarantee their sales and supplies thanks to tools such as long-term contracts that include fixed prices and volumes, and by establishing a genuine relationship with each other.
