Do you know that beautiful , shiny and defined curly hair ? You can get it with the " Curly Girl" Method . It is a method that consists of treating naturally curly hair with the aim of:
- minimize damage to follicles
- keep them hydrated , as snails are more prone to dryness
- accentuate them
"Curly Girl" Method, Here's How to Get Started!
When you first try the " Curly Girl " Method, it may seem like a complicated process, but in reality it's just a matter of putting a few little tricks into practice. And it's not out of the question that some of the steps in the "Curly Girl" Method are already unconsciously implemented by those with curly hair, such as using the diffuser only at a cool/medium temperature and at a low/medium speed.
In any case, whether we want to follow the method or not, the most important thing is choosing what we put in our hair, learning to read the instructions on the products we buy and excluding all products that contain silicones, parabens, waxes and alcohol, because they weigh down the hair and harm the result.
And this applies to all the products we put in our hair, from shampoo to mask, conditioner and finally styling products.

"Curly Girl" Method, here are all the steps
The method recommends:
- favor gentle washes , such as a cowash or a lowpoo , with a very mild shampoo.
- use a diffuser (which is already quite obvious for all curly hair) and dry at a low temperature and low speed.
- avoid straighteners or irons that can damage your hair.
- Avoid drying your hair with a terrycloth towel and, above all, using a towel to pat your hair dry , as this increases frizz . Opt for smooth microfiber towels or cotton t-shirts , and only use microplopping motions. The microplopping motion is the gesture of holding wet hair from the bottom up inside the microfiber cloth or t-shirt.
- Style your hair when it is wet to keep it more hydrated, more defined and with less volume.
- Perfect your styling techniques and use the right brushes. Some styling techniques are:
- raking: apply the product with your fingers and run them through the length of the hair
- praying hands: apply the product to the palms of your hands and distribute it through your hair, passing it through your joined hands
- scrunch: squeeze the hair in the palm of your hand in an upward motion
- finger coil: winding strands of hair around your fingers
- Protect your hair at night by wearing a turban to limit friction with the pillow, or by using a silk/satin pillowcase, which makes friction with the pillow softer than a cotton pillowcase.
The " Curly Girl " method can be seen as something that enhances a person's natural beauty: girls with curly hair, especially on special occasions, often find themselves wanting to straighten their hair to feel more put together. With this method, it is not only possible to have extremely neat hair, but also more beautiful and natural than it would otherwise appear. Taking care of yourself, learning to value the specific qualities that each of us has, including unruly curls, is a great way to accept and love ourselves.

Curly Girl Method: What do you need to get started?
Let's now take a practical look at all the steps to correctly carry out the Curly Girl Method with natural, sustainable and organic products like those from La Saponaria:
- Let's start with the Final Wash : do you find it strange that the first step is called "final"? This name comes from the fact that we can use it whenever we want to start the process again. In particular, this step can be used to start the Curly Girl method as a way of washing away all the residue that has built up in the hair over time. It can also be used as a purifying treatment between light washes, when you feel the need to purify the scalp of the products that have built up and that do not come off with light washes. In these cases, it is recommended to dilute the shampoo with water. For this step, we recommend the Organic Sunflower and Orange Shampoo , the Organic Sage and Lemon Shampoo or the Purezza Solid Shampoo (purifying and anti-dandruff) .
- Shampoo : The shampoo should be a low poo shampoo with a mild shampoo, or a co-wash with a rinse-in conditioner, both for regular use. This wash should be alternated every 3 to 5 washes with a final wash . Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil Shampoo diluted in a ratio of 1 part shampoo to 3 parts water is perfect for low poo . If you choose to do a co-wash , you can use a leave-in conditioner.
- Hair mask : do it before or instead of conditioner once a week, leaving it on for at least 10 to 15 minutes. You can also do a hair mask periodically before shampooing, leaving it on for 30 minutes to 2 hours. Which ones should you choose? The Illuminating, Strength and Volume hair masks are perfect for curls! The Illuminating Hair Mask has a polishing and moisturizing effect, the Strength Hair Mask is restructuring and stimulating and the Volume Hair Mask is volumizing, balancing and anti-pollution. They contain valuable moisturizing and emollient oils, such as babassu oil, argan oil, jojoba oil, lemon essential oil and linseed oil, and each of them has specific ingredients that make them unique and different from the others for their intended purpose. So you can choose your favorite or use them alternately according to your specific needs at the time!
- Conditioner : to be used after the mask or as an alternative to the mask, it helps to hydrate and detangle the hair. It should be applied from the middle of the hair to the entire length , avoiding the roots, and the hair should be combed starting at the ends and going up the length and not the other way around, from the roots to the ends, as is normally done. The Moringa & Sunflower Conditioner is perfect for this purpose and is approved by the Curly Girl Method.

We now leave you with some suggestions for styling products!
- Leave-in : Leave-in conditioners are halfway between washing products and styling products . They are leave-in conditioners that have a dual function : keeping hair hydrated during the washing phase and making hair easier to comb, making it easier to use a brush during the styling phase and a more even distribution of products.
- Protective and volumizing sprays: thanks to their light texture, they do not cause the effect of product build-up on the hair, on the contrary, they protect it and make it stronger. On damp hair, you can use Vegeta Keratin , formulated with ingredients approved by the Curly Girl Method, which restructures the hair shaft, preventing breakage: it makes hair thicker and shinier. On damp or dry hair, you can apply AHA Fruit Acids , for an anti-frizz and shine treatment with an anti-limescale and anti-salt effect. Thanks to its slightly acidic pH, which closes the hair follicles, it makes hair silky and disciplined .
- Styling : for the final styling phase, you can choose the product you like the most and the consistency best suited to your hair type (cream, mousse or gel), applying it with your hands (raking or praying hairs) and finishing with a crunch or finger coil for the most difficult locks. An essential product for styling is the Leave-in Cream for Curls : a cream designed to shape and naturally fix curls and combat frizz. It contains Babassu Oil and natural Hydrosaccharides to hydrate, Vitamin E, Aloe Vera Gel, Lavender, Chicory Prebiotic, and Fenugreek which makes hair shiny and silky. At the end of the process, you can also apply a few drops of Plant Crystals , applied to almost dry hair by crunching. The function of an oil at the end of the routine is to seal in moisture.
